No one wants to read a big chunk of text. Break bigger chunk of text into paragraphs. The paragraphs should not be longer than 5 lines.

Use big enough font, so that people can read it without having to squint or zoom in. Make sure your font is readable both on mobile and desktop.

Use headings, subheadings and bullet points.

    I have mixed feeling about a popup upon people exiting. Actually, I don’t like popups at all when I’m visiting a web site.
    Do popups really work?

    • Popups can be a great way to collect a visitor’s email and build a long term relationship with them. But if not used wisely it can trigger the visitor to leave even faster. I would suggest to have a pop-up when the visitor has scrolled down at least 30% of your content, because this shows that they are interested in what you have to say. As for the exit popup, you can never go wrong with it. The user was going to leave anyway, so you don’t lose anything by asking for their email. And of course you must have a great freebie 😉👍
