So, you want to earn extra income online and you stumbled upon CrowdSurf. CrowdSurf is a transcription company that claims to pay you for transcribing video and audio files. Are they legit or is CrowdSurf a scam?
That’s exaclty what this CrowdSurf review is going to be about. I will tell you what CrowdSurf is, how it works, how much they pay and tell you whether this company is worth joining.
What is CrowdSurf?
CrowdSurf is an Indian-based transcription company that was established in 2013. The goal of the company is to build a community of transcribers that will provide transcription and caption services for hearing impaired people.
They transcribe files in the Education, Business and Entertainment fields.
As a transcriptionist you will get a video or an audio file to transcribe. How much you get paid depends on the length of the file and your level of performance.
How Does CrowdSurf Work?
First you will need to create an account through WorkMarket, which is the platform that Crowdsurf uses to hire and pay their freelance transcriptionists.
Note that fees apply when you withdraw your earnings. The fees are different depending on your country, but if you use PayPal, the fee is going to be $1 regardless of where you live.
A smart move would be to wait until you have accumulated around $50 or more before you do the transaction. And just to give you an idea of how hard it would be to accumulate those $50, the average pay per transcription is $0,13 for 20 seconds.
After you have been approved, which normally takes up to a week, you can start completing tasks. The audio files are pretty short, but hard to understand. You will need to use headsets in order to hear what the audio says and even then, the sound won’t be completely clear.

How Much Do You Make With CrowdSurf?
The pay at CrowdSurf is really terrible. The average pay per transcription is $0.05 to $0.17 per 20 to 30 seconds of the file.
The earning potential is VERY low. The average amount that you will earn is $5/hour, which is extremely low for western countries.
And even if you are just looking for a way to make some extra money, CrowdSurf is a bad investment of your time.
Is CrowdSurf a Scam?
No, CrowdSurf isn’t a scam, but the pay is just terrible.
The question isn’t ”Is CrowdSurf a scam?”, but rather ”Is CrowdSurf a good company to join?” and the answer is ”no”.
Based on my research, CrowdSurf isn’t a good company to join. Yes, you will make some money, but it won’t be enough to cover your expenses if you live in a more developed country.
If you are looking for a quick way to make some extra income or if you live in a country with low standard of living, then CrowdSurf may be a good option for you.
It may also be a good option for those of you who want to get practice as a transcriptionist. Or if you are just looking for a way to make an extra $50/week to supplement your income, CrowdSurf is a decent option for you.
But if you are looking for a way to create long term success, then CrowdSurf is just a waste of your time.
Here’s A Better Opportunity
You know what they say, ”You can always make more money, but you can never get more time”. So don’t waste your time with low paying companies like CrowdSurf.
If you really need instant money, go and get a job! Stop looking for quick ways to make money online, because there is no such a thing.
Long term success takes time and effort. So if you understand that and agree with me, keep reading…
The best way to make money online is by building an online business. Don’t freak out! It’s not as complicated as it sounds. You just need to find a proven strategy and module it.
The business model that I recommend is called affiliate marketing and it is all about earning commissions for promoting other people’s products.
