You are probably here because you are wondering ”Is PureTrim a scam or a legit way to make money?”. If that’s the case, this post was especially made for you. In this PureTrim review I will answer questions such as ”What is PureTrim”, ”How does it work”, ”What’s their compensation plan” and if it’s good to join overall.

PureTrim is a health and wellness MLM that sells shakes, tea and weight loss products. They say you can make money by selling their products, but is it really so? After doing my research, I doubt that you can make money with this MLM and in this post I will tell you why.

By the time you are done reading this article, you will know whether PureTrim is the right program for you to join.

Let’s begin!

PureTrim Review Summary

Company: PureTrim

Is PureTrim a Scam

Price: $29 per month + $199 to $399 per month in products

Method To Make Money: MLM, recruiting

Do I recommend it? No!

Overall rating: 1/5

MLMs are bad when it comes to making money online, but PureTrim is one of the worst ones that you can join. It’s really expensive to join. They make you think that you are only paying $29, but in reality there is a hidden monthly fee. They obligate you to buy products worth $199-$399 every month just to qualify for the commissions.

Other than that, the compensation plan is really terrible. Retail sales are not rewarded and the whole system is a pyramid scheme, which means that most people who join – loose money.

What Is PureTrim?

PureTrim is an MLM company that focuses on selling products in the weight loss industry. They sell stuff like shakes, tea and weight loss products.

The original name of the company was Awareness Corp, but it was changed in 2014.

Who Is The Owner?

The owner of PureTrim is not directly disclosed on their website. If you want to know who stands behind it, you will have to do your own investigation. I did the research for you and found that Mark Tahiliani is the name of the creator. His background is nothing good. His previous company BigSmart was sued by the FTC for being illegal.

I am not saying that you should judge a person by his past, but the fact that Mark’s name isn’t even disclosed on the homepage, is a bit suspicious and a sign that PureTrim might not be what it seems at first. If a company is legit, the owner is clearly disclosed on the website.

Most people join MLM companies to start an online business. They think it sounds like a great idea to utilize someone else’s products and sell them for commissions.

Personally I am not a fan of MLM companies, since it requires you to constantly chase people and try to sell products to them. But there is one thing that you absolutely must know when joining a program like that. You must know who the owner is, his background and whether he uses his real name.

How Do You Make Money With PureTrim?

The truth is that it is almost impossible to be profitable with PureTrim. There are a lot of red flags with this system. I will talk more about that later, but for now let me tell you how the system is supposed to work.

There are 2 primary ways to make money with MLM companies.

The first one is through retail sales of PureTrim’s products. You will be direct selling products to people and if they buy, you will earn a commission.

The second way to make money with PureTrim is by recruiting people. You will be inviting people to join the same system and if they do, you will earn a percentage of their earnings.

Is PureTrim A Pyramid Scheme?

Not all MLM’s are pyramid schemes. Some MLMs are legitimate, but unfortunately that is not the case with PureTrim.  PureTrim is an illegal pyramid scheme. Let me tell you why.

Is PureTrim a Scam - pyramid scheme

The image above represent a pyramid scheme. The ones at the top make most money and the ones at the bottom loose most money. When you join, you are at the very bottom of the pyramid, which means that you are the least profitable one.

There are 2 primary ways, pyramid schemes work.

  1. There’s no product, only recruitment. This means that the only way to make money is to convince others to join the same system as you.
  2. There’s a product but money don’t come from retail sales. Instead, they come mostly from distributors.

PureTrim falls into the second category. But even though, there is a real product, you are not rewarded for retail sales. Instead they encourage you to recruit people.

What’s even worse is that you need to qualify for the commissions. You might be thinking that you can just join the program and if you manage to convince someone to buy, you will earn a commission. This is far away from how things really work. Unless you are a regular customer at PureTrim, you won’t receive any commissions.

You will have to buy products worth $199-$399 every month just to qualify for the commissions. Note that this does not guarantee that you will be profitable.

Don’t get me wrong. PureTrim has great products, but their compensation plan is terrible. It seems like they are just after people’s money.

It’s Very Hard To Be Profitable With PureTrim

The truth is that the person who recruits you to PureTrim or any other pyramid scheme, will never tell you that almost no one is making money with this system.

People join with the hope to sell PureTrim’s products, but what they don’t realize is that almost all reviews about PureTrim are negative. This doesn’t help you when trying to sell products to people. Even if you got someone interested in PureTrim’s products, they are very likely to do their own research and when they find the negative results on Google, you can forget that they will buy from you.

When that happens, people realize that there is no way they will make money by selling products, so they go over to recruiting others to the same crappy system. They think it will be easier to recruit someone than to try to sell them a product that costs hundreds of dollars. But unfortunately that is not the case.

Recruiting is REALLY difficult. In order to be profitable, you will need to recruit at least a couple hundreds of people. This is very unlikely to happen. You will be lucky if you managed to get even 5 people in your downline.

Some stats about MLMs

Most people lose money: Between 73% and 99% of people lose money when they join an MLM company.

Yearly income of $5000: People who manage to make money from MLMs (a very small percentage), make less than $5000/year, which is less than $13 a day.

75% of people give up for good: 75% of people who join an MLM, give up for good. They realize that there is no earning potential and move on to something else.

Selling to friends and family: Most people fell uncomfortable selling to complete strangers, so they try to sell to friends and family.

Imagine if you had to sell this kind of offers to your own family, when you know that they will lose money. Would you do it? Tell me in the comments down below.

I think that the stats that I provided above are more than enough to understand that MLMs are not the best business model to get involved in. If you are serious about making money online and building a successful long term business, I encourage you to check out affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is the best business model in my opinion. It does not require you to recruit people. There is no face to face selling and you do not have to create or own the products.

Your only job as an affiliate marketer is to create high quality content, recommend products through your affiliate links and if people buy – you will earn a commission. It is that simple. How Much Does It Cost To Join PureTrim?

There are several prices that you need to pay in order to join PureTrim. Some of them are clearly disclaimed and others are hidden fees.

The first one is an annual fee of $29. If that was the only price to pay, there wouldn’t be a problem, right? But there is a lot more you need to pay for.

As mentioned earlier, you will have to qualify for the commissions. The way you do that is by purchasing products worth $400 in a single month. This is something mandatory because without it, you won’t be able to make money.

Qualifying for the commissions isn’t the only extra cost though. You will have to pay a monthly fee of $199-$399 to maintain your MLM commissions. This doesn’t make much sense, since it is like a double cost, but that’s the way it is.

All of that adds up pretty quickly. I hope you now realize that you will be losing much more than you will be earning.

PureTrim Compensation Plan

PureTrim’s compensation plan is the typical MLM compensation plan, full of technical terms that most people don’t understand. Compensation plans like that are usually made with the intent to confuse people, but I will try to explain PureTrim’s compensation plan simply.

Affiliate Ranks

PureTrim has the following 8 affiliate ranks:

  1. Executive Promoter
  2. Direct Promoter
  3. 1 Star Promoter
  4. 2 Star Promoter
  5. 3 Star Promoter
  6. 4 Star Promoter
  7. 5 Star Promoter
  8. President’s Club

You start from the very bottom and work your way up. As you go to a higher level, you receive rewards. The way you climb to the higher ranks is by recruiting more people and buying more products.

Retail Commissions

For every retail sale that you make, you will receive a 10% to 35% in commissions. How high the commission is depends on your rank.

Residual Commissions

Residual commissions is the money you earn from your downline (your referrals). The closer to the bottom of the pyramid you are, the less money you will earn. And as we discussed above, the closer to the bottom you are, the more money are you losing.

Is PureTrim a Scam - pyramid scheme

How much you earn, depends on your rank. Here are the earnings in detail:

  • 1 Star Promoters earn 5% on level 1 recruits (personal recruits)
  • 2 Star Promoters earn 5% on level 1 and level 2 recruits
  • 3 Star Promoters earn 5% on level 1 to Level 3 recruits
  • 4 Star Promoters earn 5% on level 1 to level 4 recruits
  • 5 Star Promoters earn 5% on level 1 to level 5 recruits
  • President’s Club earn 5% on level 1 to level 6 recruits

Gold Bonus

The Gold Bonus is a fancy word for increasing the percentage you earn and it gets unlocked once you reach level 3.

All Star Matching Bonus

This is a $700 bonus that you will get if you manage to recruit 7 Direct Promoters in the first 30 days. This may sound easy, but as I mentioned above, recruiting in this type of schemes is really difficult. So you are very unlikely to get 7 referrals in the first 30 days of your membership.

Fast Start Bonus

This gives you a $100 bonus when you recruit an affiliate that qualifies for Direct Promoter.

Frontline Bonus

When your Direct Promoter’s referrals buy products, you will get 10% of the price.

Luxury Car Bonus

Depending on your rank you will get $150-$1500 per month for car payments.

PureTrim Products

Is PureTrim a Scam - products

PureTrim sells a variety of different product in the health and wellness niche. Below are some of their most popular peoducts:

  • PureTrim products ($39 for 10 packets)
  • Liquid multi-vitamin ($39 per month)
  • TrimBar ($29 for 5 bars)
  • 10 day weight loss starterpak ($159)

The products okay, but they are nothing special for the high price that you pay. Here is an example of what I mean that their products are overpaid.

Is PureTrim a Scam - bars

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t pay $29 for 5 chocolate bars! They are nothing special. Better quality bars can be found on Amazon for a much cheaper price.

PureTrim Pros And Cons

Pros

To be honest, there is nothing I like about PureTrim. Their products are overpriced, low quality and the compensation plan is terrible. Let me tell you more about the cons.

Cons

❌ Too expensive

They make it seem like the only price you are paying is $29, but there are a lot of hidden costs that add up pretty quickly. You need to buy products worth $199-$399 every month just to qualify for the commissions.  Over the course of a year, this can cost you several thousand dollars, without any guarantee that you will make profit.

❌ The owner has a bad past

Mark, the owner, has been involved in illegal businesses in the past. His previous business got sued by the FTC and settled for $5 million for running an illegal pyramid scheme. It seems like Mark hasn’t learned from this past experience, because he created yet another pyramid scheme – PureTrim.

Autoshipment

Autoshipment means that the company obligates you to purchase products just to be eligible for the commissions. In most cases people spend more on these products than they earn back.

Pay to play

Unfortunately PureTrim does not reward activity. They reward only those who spend a lot of money on PureTrim’s products. This is known as pay to play and t’s a typical strategy that pyramid scheme creators use. As soon as you see that you need to pay in order to ”earn”, it should be a clear sign to you that the system is a scam.

Here is a video explaining how pay to play systems work:

Is PureTrim A Scam?

After everything that I have said in this PureTrim review, I can without a doubt call this system a scam. Everything in this pyramid scheme works against you.

They obligate you to spend thousands of dollar a year, just to keep your membership alive. The system is simply not set for success. The owner, who has illegal background, only cares about getting your money.

Other than that, the products that PureTrim offers are over-priced and low quality. There are much better products for half the price on Amazon, which makes retail sales difficult.

PureTrim is a VERY BAD business opportunity and I recommend you stay away from it.  Don’t get involved in illegal pyramid schemes and don’t try to recruit friends and family. You don’t want to get yourself in trouble.

Here’s A Better Opportunity

The fact that you searched for ”Is PureTrim a Scam” tells me that you are business oriented and want to make money. Unfortunately PureTrim isn’t your best option. Don’t get discouraged though. There are still plenty of ways to make money from home.

Let me tell you about a program, that has helped me start my first online business. It’s called Wealthy Affiliate and it’s based on affiliate marketing.

Wealthy Affiliate is a training platform that teaches complete beginners how to start an affiliate marketing business and earn passive income. The best part is that it is completely free to join and you can create your free account here.

Affiliate marketing is a much better business opportunity than working for an MLM company like PureTrim. With affiliate marketing you are not depended on anyone else and you have full control over your earnings. No one tells you what to do or what to sell. In fact, there is no selling with affiliate marketing.

  1. Hi Delyana,

When I read about Mark’s past, I would stay away from everything he creates, no matter how good it sounds. I know that his past doesn’t mean who he is today, but this is just to keep myself out of trouble.
Another downside I saw from PureTrim is that there is only less than 1% of people who can make nice and decent money through an MLM’s compensation plan, so it’s quite a push & I won’t go any further to join it.

Thanks for sharing, it’s good to know the truth.

  2. Hi Delyana,

This is really a very thorough review of PureTrim MLM. I do not use diet products, so I don’t know much about them and probably would not be looking at this company or ones like it. I think that the information you have provided about this company and how they do business, would definitely want to make me run as far away from it as I possibly can, even if I were in dyer need of losing weight or needed supplemental nutrition.

Thank you for your honesty throughout this review. There are really some very bad MLM’s out there and people need to look at all the facts before making a decision. The good MLM’s such as Avon get a bad reputation from the bad experiences they have had. You have given people a lot to go on when making a decision about PureTrim MLM.

    All the best to you,
    Barbara

  3. Thank you for this helpful post Deylana. I think that MLM companies are really good for the owners or for the people on the highest levels of the pyramid. I had an experience by myself and honestly I couldn’t go and sell it to the family. I did some attempts with friends, but stopped just after I realized how bad this all was. So happy I could stopped then, otherwise I could have problems with my friends. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

    • Thank you for sharing your experience. I congratulate you on realizing that MLMs are not good business opportunities. Sooner or later people realize that no one wants to buy from them, so they start trying selling to friends and family. I am glad you didn’t make that mistake, because as you say it could have cost you your relationships.

If you are still looking for a legitimate way of making money online, here is my number one recommendation. I hope it helps you 🙂

  4. I have had many bad experiences with these types of businesses and would tell people to stay clear also. What MLM dose is over-promise, they will sell you big dreams while you invest your hard earned dollars and time for a return that is not worth the investment.

  5. Awesome review and very helpful for those wondering about whether they should sell PureTrim. I loved your images and titles and many sections. It is very easy to follow and spaced well. I agree with you on Wealthy Affiliate as a much better way to go. BTW, I have shared via Twitter and Pinterest. Good luck getting the word out!

  6. Based on what you have said and my experience with mlm programs I would stay away from them because all they do is sell you hypes and dreams nothing more. The time and money that you put in these business models is not worth it.

  7. Hey! I really do appreciate every time I see a review like this. These high promises products are just meant to scam people. I really thank you for this, please continue to articles like this, I sure will be reading and sharing them.

  8. Although I never heard of this company before, it is good to know what it is all about. It is not surprising that the owner tries to hide his identity with such a track record as his. As you mentioned, it is hard enough to make money in MLM not matter how good the company, but this is definitely one to avoid. Thanks for your insights.
